Project Overview: Small-Scale Drone and Instrumented Glove for Control Actions
Step 1. Understand the Objective
This short-term research project aimed to improve the technical skills of undergraduate students through hands-on experience. The project consists of two main components: a small-scale drone and an instrumented glove designed to collect and analyze hand motion data.
Step 2. Learn the Key Details
The instrumented glove is equipped with an IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit), flex-sensors, a microcontroller, and XBee communication modules. The data collected from the glove can be converted into control actions for the drone, allowing it to be piloted based on the physical activities of hand movements.
Step 3. Know the Ultimate Goal
The ultimate goal is to provide undergraduate students with practical experience in designing and developing integrated control systems, enhancing their understanding of real-world applications of sensors and drone technology.
Step 4. Understand the Contributions
- Glove Instrumentation Development: Develop an instrumented glove incorporating an IMU, flex-sensors, a microcontroller, and XBee communication for data collection.
- Data Analysis for Control Actions: Analyze the data collected from the glove to convert hand motions into control commands for the drone.
- Drone Control Integration: Integrate the glove-based control system with the drone to demonstrate real-time control capabilities.
- Technical Skill Enhancement: Provide undergraduate students with valuable hands-on experience in sensor integration, data analysis, and control system design.
